So you want to play an event, but aren't really sure if it will make or not. So instead of picking an event and committing to that organizer; teams sign up for multiple events? And wait and see which events will make?
But do teams realize that "other teams" are doing the same thing? Event A has twelve teams playing and event B only has eight. So you choose event A because it "has more teams"; you prepay for the event online and wait for the schedule to be posted. Not realizing that seven of the twelve teams in event A are also signed up for event B!
So now what happens? All seven of those teams who were signed up for event A decide for whatever reason to now COMMIT to event B. Now event A only has five teams and event B has picked up even more teams and is now SOLD OUT!
So what does the team do? Calls or emails the event director of event A and wants a full refund because the team has "changed their mind." But when does the team contact the event director of event A? The Wednesday before the event is scheduled to happen!
So I guess the question to the teams or organizations is the following:
1) Do you feel the event director should fully refund the team who backs out three to four days prior to the event?
2) Does the event director tell the team "NO" and instruct the team to honor their commitment to play the tournament they have paid for?
3) How much notice is respectable as a business to business transaction for a team(s) to back out of an event without causing animosity with said team or organization?
